How Much Does House Cleaning Cost in London, Ontario?

There is no single price for house cleaning — but there is a predictable set of factors behind every quote. Here is what actually drives the cost, and how to read a cleaning price before you book.

House Cleaning Cost in London, Ontario at a Glance

There is no single price for house cleaning in London, Ontario, because cleaning is quoted per home rather than per city. What you pay comes down to how large your home is, what kind of clean it needs, and how often you book — those three things account for most of the gap between one quote and another.

The short version

  • Home size — bedrooms and bathrooms — is the single biggest factor in any cleaning quote.
  • The type of clean matters as much as the size. A standard maintenance clean, a deep clean and a move-out clean are three different scopes of work.
  • Recurring service is discounted on every visit: at TidyWay that is 15% weekly, 10% biweekly and 5% monthly.
  • Optional extras are priced individually, so two quotes for the same home can differ purely on what is included.
  • You should be able to get a firm price without anyone visiting your home first.

To put real numbers against that, here is what TidyWay charges for a one-time standard clean at a few common London home sizes, along with the time we budget for the job.

TidyWay standard cleaning — example prices
HomeOne-time standard cleanEstimated time on site
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom$1562 hr 30 min
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom$1793 hr
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms$2304 hr
4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms$2704 hr 45 min

TidyWay flat rates for a one-time standard clean, before any optional extras and before any recurring discount. Larger homes and additional bathrooms cost more; recurring visits cost less.

Why you won't find a “London average” here

Average cleaning-cost figures for Canadian cities circulate widely online, and we don’t republish them. We have no way to verify how any of them were gathered, which services they counted, or how current they are — and quoting a number we can’t stand behind would not help you decide anything.

What we can tell you honestly is what we charge, why it is structured the way it is, and what to ask any other company so you can put their number next to ours on the same terms.

What Determines the Cost of House Cleaning?

Nearly every professional cleaning quote is assembled from the same handful of inputs. Once you can see them, prices stop looking arbitrary and start looking comparable.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Bedroom count is the standard shorthand for how much floor area, furniture and surface a home has. Bathrooms move the price more than most people expect, because they are the slowest rooms in the house to clean properly — fixtures, glass, grout, mirrors and disinfecting all take time that a bedroom simply doesn’t. A three-bedroom home with one bathroom and a three-bedroom home with three bathrooms are genuinely different jobs, which is why bathrooms are usually priced separately, and why a half bathroom counts for less than a full one.

The size and layout of your home

Bedroom and bathroom counts are a proxy for size, not a perfect measure of it. Some companies quote from square footage instead. Both methods are trying to answer the same question — how much is there to clean — and both can misjudge a home that is unusual for its bedroom count. If yours has a large open main floor, a finished basement in daily use, or three storeys of stairs, mention it when you ask for a price, whichever method the company uses.

The same logic applies to apartments and condos. They are priced on the same size-based basis as a house; they simply tend to sit at the smaller end of it.

Standard cleaning versus a bigger scope

A standard clean, a deep clean and a move-out clean are not three price tiers for the same work — they are three different amounts of work. That is the single largest reason two quotes for the same address can be far apart, and it is worth pinning down before you compare anything else. Both are covered in detail further down.

The current condition of the home

Price follows scope, and scope follows condition. A home that has been cleaned professionally in the last month needs less than one that hasn’t been cleaned in a year. With flat-rate pricing that is usually handled by choosing a deeper first clean rather than by a surprise surcharge later — which is exactly why it is worth being candid about condition when you ask for a price. An underestimated job helps nobody: the cleaner runs out of time, and you end up disappointed by a result that was never possible in the hours booked.

How often you book

Recurring cleaning is priced lower per visit than one-time cleaning almost everywhere, and the size of that discount varies by company and by frequency. It is one of the easiest ways to change what you pay.

Extras you choose

Interior windows, inside the oven or fridge, cabinet interiors, balconies and heavy pet hair are typically optional and priced on top. They are also the most common reason two quotes look different for no obvious reason, so it is worth checking which ones a price already includes.

One-Time vs. Recurring House Cleaning Prices

One-time and recurring cleaning are usually priced from the same base, with a discount applied to recurring visits. The reasoning is practical rather than promotional: a home cleaned on a schedule never drifts far from its baseline, so less accumulates between visits and each visit is a smaller job than the same clean would be after three months of nothing.

TidyWay recurring discounts
FrequencyDiscount per visitExample: 3 bed, 2 bath
One-Time$230
Monthly5%$219
Bi-Weekly10%$207
Weekly15%$196

The same standard clean at each frequency. The discount applies to every visit, not just the first one.

Weekly gives the lowest price per visit but the highest monthly total, simply because there are more visits to pay for. Monthly is the opposite. Biweekly sits between the two: a smaller per-visit discount than weekly, but half as many visits. Which one is right depends less on price than on how quickly your home gets away from you — busy households with kids or pets tend to need the shorter gap, while a home that gets regular day-to-day upkeep often does fine on a longer one.

Two things worth checking with any company offering recurring rates: whether the discount applies to every visit or only to an introductory one, and whether it requires a contract. TidyWay’s recurring cleaning discounts every visit for as long as the schedule runs, and there is no contract — you can change frequency, skip a visit or cancel at any time. Not sure which frequency actually fits your household? See how often to hire a house cleaner.

Regular Cleaning vs. Deep Cleaning Cost

Deep cleaning costs more than regular cleaning because it is more work, not because it is billed at a different rate. A regular clean is maintenance: it keeps an already-reasonable home on track. A deep clean resets a home, and that reset takes hours a maintenance visit does not have.

Regular cleaning

Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas — surfaces, floors, fixtures and high-touch points. Designed to be repeated on a schedule.

Deep cleaning

Everything in a regular clean, plus appliance and cabinet interiors, grout, vents, light fixtures and detailed baseboard work throughout the home.

Because the difference is scope rather than rate, deep cleaning is priced as an upgrade on top of your home’s standard price. At TidyWay that upgrade is a flat $125 and adds roughly 2 hours on site — so for the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home above, a one-time deep clean works out to $355.

One detail worth knowing if you are starting a recurring schedule: a deep clean is a first-visit upgrade, not a permanent change to your rate. At TidyWay it applies to that first clean only, and every visit afterwards is billed at your normal recurring price. For a fuller breakdown of what the extra hours actually cover and how the two compare task by task, see deep cleaning vs. regular cleaning, or go straight to the full deep cleaning cost guide.

What About Move-In and Move-Out Cleaning?

Moving cleans are a different service, so they sit outside standard house cleaning pricing. The home is empty or nearly empty, which changes what is reachable and what is expected: inside every cabinet, drawer and closet, appliance interiors, window tracks, door frames and baseboards throughout. That is considerably more surface than a maintenance clean covers, and the price reflects it.

TidyWay prices it the same way as a deep clean — your home’s standard price plus a flat $120 upgrade, adding about 3 hours on site. The scope is the same whether you are cleaning a home you are leaving or one you are about to move into, which is why both are quoted from the same upgrade.

If a lease, a property manager or a sale agreement sets a cleaning standard you have to meet, check it against what a quote actually includes before you book — that is the detail moving cleans most often turn on. House Cleaning Add-Ons and Extras

Extras are the part of a cleaning price that is genuinely up to you. They sit outside the standard checklist because most homes don’t need them on every visit, and each one adds both a cost and time on site. These are the optional services TidyWay offers and what each one adds:

TidyWay optional add-ons

Don't pay for the same work twice

Appliance and cabinet interiors are already part of a TidyWay deep clean and of a move-in or move-out clean. If you are booking either of those, there is no need to add inside the oven, inside the fridge or inside the cabinets separately — they are already in the scope you are paying for.

Hourly Cleaning vs. Flat, Upfront Pricing

Cleaning is sold two ways, and the difference matters mostly for what you know before the work starts.

Hourly pricing

You pay for time spent. It suits open-ended work where nobody can reasonably predict the scope in advance — but the final number is not known until the job is finished, and comparing two hourly rates tells you nothing about how much either company gets done in an hour.

Flat, upfront pricing

You pay a set price for a defined scope of work. The number is known before booking and does not move if the job runs long — but it does require both sides to agree on what is included, and anything outside that scope is a separate item.

Neither model is universally better; they answer different questions. TidyWay doesn’t sell cleaning as open-ended hourly time — you select your home size, the type of clean and any extras, and you get one price for that scope. You also see the estimated time on site, so you know what has been budgeted for the job rather than only what it costs. If the work takes longer than expected, that is on us rather than on your invoice.

How to Compare House Cleaning Prices

The lowest headline price is rarely the same job as the one next to it. Before you compare two numbers, make them comparable — these are the questions that most often explain the gap:

  • What is actually included at that price? Ask for the checklist, not a description. “Full house clean” means different things at different companies.
  • Is it a price or an estimate? An hourly range and a fixed quote are not the same commitment.
  • Are supplies and equipment included? Some quotes assume you provide products and a working vacuum.
  • Is the company insured, and for how much? Liability coverage is what protects you if something is damaged in your home.
  • Are cleaners background-checked? You are giving someone access to your home, often while you are out.
  • What happens if the clean isn’t right? A written policy is worth more than a promise on a phone call.
  • Can you see the price before someone visits? An in-home estimate is not automatically a bad sign, but it does cost you an appointment before you know anything.
  • How do scheduling and cancellations work? Notice periods, fees and how easily you can move a visit all affect what the service is actually worth to you.

A cheaper quote is often a narrower one — fewer rooms, fewer tasks, supplies excluded, or an hourly rate that stops when the clock does rather than when the home is finished. That can be exactly what you want, as long as you know that is what you are buying. For reference on the questions above: TidyWay includes all supplies and equipment, carries $2 million in liability insurance, background-checks every cleaner before their first job, and will return free within 24 hours if a clean isn’t right.
